Ruth Buckland Counselling Bromley, Kent

I am a qualified, experienced Counsellor who offers a welcoming, confidential and non judgemental counselling service where you can try and make sense of your life. As a registered member of The British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) I work within their ethical framework and this service is accessible to Bromley, Beckenham and South East London.

Both men and women find therapy helpful as sometimes friends and relatives are too close to the problem or not available to listen. Every person is unique, individual and important and I believe that regardless of the approach, the counsellor must reflect this. Above all I believe a counsellor should create a sense of safety, trust, free of prejudices or judgment - a calm space in which to help a client explore and come to terms with their difficulties at a pace to match and respect their needs.

As your counsellor, my aim would be to support and help you to gain a better understanding of your situation. Sometimes when emotions run high it can be difficult to understand our feelings, let alone manage them, making everything feel overwhelming. All too often we can ignore warning signs, burying the problems and pushing them to the back of the mind. Unfortunately they can bounce back into your mind unexpectedly, creating a situation that is too difficult to see away ahead. Confusion, anxiety, depression and stress may occur and may prevent you from leading the life that you want for yourself. This is where our work together can help you look at steps to take control of your life in a healthy productive way.

"I never realised how much I could change in my life, you gave me the time and space to do it".*

I welcome everyone into my counselling service, regardless of their age, gender, sexual orientation, race, culture or ethnic origin, so if you can relate to any of the above and life is a struggle then counselling could be a way of helping you with your situation.

Clients come to my service with a wide range of issues including:

  • Depression, anxiety, stress, anger
  • Domestic Abuse and Domestic Violence

I understand the impact of living in a violent and abusive relationship, when staying seems the only option as leaving it seems impossible. No one deserves to be abused and everyone has the right to feel safe. However, I will never tell you to leave the relationship nor will I tell you to stay but, I can help you to look at your choices even when your situation feels overwhelming.
