Ruth Buckland Counselling Bromley, Kent

About me

Sometimes we all need extra support in our lives. It can seem daunting to imagine talking to someone about your troubles and fears. I hope this page gives you an insight into who I am and what I can bring to the session as a counsellor.

I believe counselling is based on the relationship between the client and the counsellor. This relationship is built on and thrives on trust, respect, genuineness and understanding. These qualities allows and enhances the opportunity for the client to explore their own values and beliefs, gain a better understanding of their self and their situation and be able to make positive changes to their life.

Qualifications and Experience

I obtained the Diploma in Therapeutic Counselling and I am now registered with the British Association of Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP). All my work abides by their Ethical Framework.

As an Integrative counsellor, I will draw on different therapeutic approaches tailored specifically to your needs. For those seeking short-term therapy a more structured, solution focused approach is possible looking at specific issues over a limited number of sessions: however, you may be looking for more long-term therapy which can explore early life events, patterns of behaviour and help you to understand your ways of thinking and behaving. This can allow you make the choices you want too

Since qualifying I have worked with a variety of clients, within my private practise, presenting with various issues especially around anxiety, stress, depression, abuse and loss, women's issues especially the menopausal: additionally I have spent the last decade involved with Victims/Survivors of Domestic Abuse, extending my understanding further of abuse, trauma, loss and fear. This work continually demonstrates how all types of abuse can have an enormous effect on victim's mental health for years after the abuse has stopped.

I have passed the Co-ordinated Action Against Domestic Abuse (CAADA) training, accredited by the Open College Network and I am trained to facilitate the Freedom Programme, primarily designed for women as victims of domestic abuse.
