Working through the Coronavirus situation

Due to these exceptional, uncertain times at present I can no longer offer face to face sessions; however I am able to offer Telephone, FaceTime or Skype Sessions.

Please contact me by phone on 07593 233911, 077315 933 824 or click here to email me if you would like an informal chat, have any questions about my service or to arrange a initial session. Look after yourself.

My Aim

As your Counsellor, I will listen and help you to gain a better understanding of your situation. Sometimes when emotions run high it can be difficult to know what is going on with our feelings, let alone manage them, making everything feel overwhelming and difficult to know where to start.

Therefore problems can be ignored and pushed to the back of the mind. They can then bounce back unexpectedly into your thoughts, creating a situation that is too difficult to deal with appropriately. Confusion, anxiety, depression and stress may occur along with other difficulties and this can prevent you from leading the life that you want for yourself.

I will draw on reputable theories effectively and together we can help you have a better understanding of your past, be more in control of the present and look at your choices and hopes for the future.

Every person is unique and as your Counsellor, I will tailor my approach to suit your needs. My aim is to create a sense of safety, a trusting and calm space, free of prejudices or judgement. This environment will help you to feel you can explore what is going on for you, look at your struggles and challenges with a view to helping you find the best ways forward at a pace to match and respect your needs. "Thank you for all your help and support over the last few months. My whole world crumbled when I lost my husband but I am learning to rebuild a different life, not the life I wanted, but a life I can live. Thank you Ruth "*

All genders can find therapy helpful as sometimes friends and relatives are too close to help with your struggles and dilemmas. You may feel they will not listen to you or understand you, you may feel judged.

I welcome everyone in to my service, regardless of age, gender, sexual orientation, race, culture or ethnic origin.

    Counselling for Domestic Abuse/Violence

I have a great insight into the impact of living in an abusive/violent relationship, when staying seems the only option, as leaving seems almost impossible. Relationships can be extremely abusive even without the violence. An abusive relationship is where one persons exerts power and control over another via a range of behaviour. The detrimental effect on the victim can be enormous.

I would not tell you to leave the relationship nor would I tell you to stay. We can look at what is going on for you, try to understand the dynamics of the relationship and explore your choices even when your situation feels overwhelming.
